Book Fund | Honor a Child's
Birthday
The highest
source of Jewish living is through the observance of Mitzvot.
A Mitzvah literally means a commandment; there are
a total of 613 commandments.
Doing a mitzvah
is associated with a good or pious deed. One of the positive
commandments is to give charity.
Tzedakah
means "righteousness," which is synonymous with the Hebrew
word for justice, mishpat. Therefore, in Judaism,
when you make a donation, this is an act of justice or righteous
giving, a responsibility of all Jews.

Honor
a Child's Birthday
This is a special way to celebrate
the birthday of your son,
daughter, grandchild, niece or nephew.
The child's birthday is commemorated with a gift in his or her honor.
With a donation of $15 to $25, a special bookplate will be placed
in a new Jewish children's book in the library indicating it as
a gift from you (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) in honor
of his/her birthday. Also, the child will receive a birthday
card from the Brodsky Library and he or she can be the first person
to check out their special
"Birthday Book."
Your participation contributes to the continuity of our quality
children's programming and book selection.
